This is a reproduction WW2 German Allgemeine-SS M1918 transitional helmet with a double decal. Comes with the SS runes on the right-hand side, and party shield on left side.
Size: Large (28" / 71cm external circumference)
Material: 18 gauge steel

M1918 German Helmets had cutouts in the rim along the sides of the helmet to improve hearing and to reduce echo created by the large, flared skirt of regular helmets. Includes the three leather sections that make up the liner and the new designed two-piece chin strap which attaches directly to the helmet liner rather than the shell.
The bolts on each side of the helmet were used to support an optional shield, the (Stirnpanzer which we also sell) used mainly by snipers. The bolts are hollow for ventilation under the helmet.
WWI helmets were used in the Pre-War years of the Wehrmacht in the build up to WW2. Before the famous M35 German helmets were made the SS-Verfugungstruppe (SS-VT) units were the first to begin using the WW1 field grey helmets models M16, M17 and M18. These helmets were modified by adding the first pattern runic SS decal.
