US M-1917 27TH DIVISION STEEL BRODIE HELMET, LINER & CHINSTRAP - ORIGINAL

This original 27th Division Brodie WWI steel helmet has the 27th Infantry Division insignia painted on it.  This helmet also comes complete with original WWI liner and chin strap.

Liner looks to be about 7 3/8 or 7 1/2.

Un-touched original condition. Liner is in great condition except the chin strap is broken . Might be able to be repaired . I have the pieces ,leather and buckle

Has number stamped on rim of shell. Looks like 96I0Z ( you can see it in the picture)

The 27th Infantry Division was a unit of the Army National Guard in WWI and WWII.  The division traces its history from the New York Division, formed originally in 1908. The 6th Division designation was changed to the 27th Division in July 1917.

The 27th Infantry Division insignia depictes the Orion constellation, punning on the surname of the Division's WWI commander John. F. O'Ryan.  The red circle is on the outside of an "O", also for "O'Ryan".  The letters inside form the monogram "NYD" for the New York Divison.
