The Weltkrieg (World War) album, devoted to Germany’s Great War is a striking album with its bright red cover.s.
Its format is for the most part a chronology of the four years of conflict with pages of cards allocated to the many campaigns, starting with the origins and outbreak of the war and the beginnings of the campaign on the Western and Eastern fronts and right the way through to the 1918 Marne0Champagne offensive and ‘the last combat operations.’
Each year begins with a narrative and timeline with a wide variety of images that reflect the geographies and aspects of the conflict.
The final sections of the album are allocated to aspects of the conflict that spanned its four years’ duration; scenes from behind the frontlines; in the homeland; selected politics and personalities; the war at sea above and below; the campaigns in the colonies and finally, portraits of men representing the opposing armies.
