WW1 GERMAN MAUSER GEW 98 ERSATZ BAYONET AND FROG

This is a WW1 G98 Mauser Ersatz all steel bayonet.

1917/18 German emergency bayonet, dating back to World War I: made entirely of steel, with handle and scabbard  of thick boxed sheet metal, single-edged blade and tip shelled on both sides.

Comes with black leather bayonet frog.

Frog has rip in the leather were hook from scabbard goes threw.

Looks like every thing has a thick black paint on it including frog.  So can not see any markings.

Introduced in 1915 by the Imperial German Army for use with GEW 98 Rifle (also fits K98 and most 98 Mauser clones including Yugo Mausers). Used by Reichswehr between the Wars and by many German police departments (rifles were standard police issue).

Remained in limited service through WWII.
