US M1917 BRODIE HELMET DOUGHBOY HELMET 82ND INFANTRY PAINTED & HAND AGED- REPRODUCTION

U.S. WW1 steel helmet also called the Doughboy or Brodie Helmet. This helmet has been painted in Camo with the A/A logo for 82nd Infantry (later 82nd Airborne) Helmet.

Made of 18 gauge steel .

All M17 US helmets are individually hand painted so no helmets are exactly the same.

Liner size is 7- 7 1/8

Originally designed in London in 1915 by Latvian inventory John Leopold Brodie, thereby being called the Brodie Helmet,.  his was a modified form of the Mark 1 helmet from Britain and the M1917 Helmet in the U.S.

Other names were the Tommy Helmet, Battle Bowler, Shrapnel Helmet along with the Dishpan Hat, Washbasin, Tin Pan Hat and Kelly Helmet.

Steel helmets became very common during World War I because of close combat, trench warfare, and destructive new weapons
