Approximately 9" x 12" and 8 pages long. The paper is used, in fair condition and has a few tears and a small missing section of the front page upper right corner.
Contains military news at the time of occupation. Also contains updates and upcoming sports events, dances, comics, gossip for the troops.
Included in this issue is info about the Canadian Rifles soccer game and recent dance and info about the upcoming trial of SS Major General Kurt Meyer for the murder of Canadian prisoners of war in Normandy, France. The trial had been postponed to allow more time to locate and bring in witnesses from Canada and POW camps in Europe to testify. No efforts had been spared to give Kurt Meyer a fair trial. The first purely-Canadian war crimes trial was being held at the Maple Leaf Barricks in Aurich, Germany.
Kurt Meyer was a Waffen-SS commander. He participated in the Battle of France, Operation Barbarossa, and many other engagements. Meyer commanded the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend during the Allied invasion of Normandy and was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords.
