Wooden stick matches were a part of everyday life in Germany from civilian to soldier. Haushaltware (loosely translated means houshold article) was one of two brands licensed for distribution under the Zundwaren Monopoly of safety matches that ran from 1930 to 1983. The Zundwaren Monopoly was created as a means to acquire financing from Ivan Kreuger (a Swedish Entrepreneur) to honor World War One reparations to France.
