GERMAN WWI ARTILLERY PICKELHAUBE HELMET - ORIGINAL

This is an original Imperial German WWI EM/NCO Pickelhaube spiked helmet.

The M1915 was the last model of Pickelhaube issued prior to the move to steel helmets. In accordance with the 1915 regulations, these helmets would no longer use brass, silver, or Tombak as the M1895 did. All issued Pickelhaube would now use gray oxidized steel fittings for all Regiments.

As this is the artillery version of the Pickelhaube, ball representing a cannon ball replaced the usual spike, leading this to be referred to as an Artillerie Kugelhelm (Artillery Ball-Top Helm).

Comes with the Original Imperial German WWI Prussian Garde Korps helmet plate SUUM CUIQUE

Across the wings of the helmet plate is a banner bearing the King's motto, MIT GOTT FÜR KOENIG UND VATERLAND (With God for King and Country).

There is a large 8-pointed star in the middle, which is the emblem of the Hoher Orden vom Schwarzen Adler (Order of the Black Eagle). The motto SUUM CUIQUE (to each his own) is marked above an eagle, with laurel leaves below.

The Condition is fair but missing the chin strap and liner is in rough condition. Over 100 years old.

This is a rarer pickelhaube with the artillery cannon ball instead of the spike and has the Helmet Plate -SUUM CUIQUE.

Received from the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Museum, Canada. The museum was selling off some of there museum’s items, to make room for more. The museum called it deaccessioning surplus museum artifacts.

The museum numbers their items for inventory purposes and you will see that there is a very small white number on this item put there by the museum. They are very easy to remove with your fingernail.
