WW2 GERMAN GENERALS GABARDINE TUNIC FIELD MARSHAL GERD VON RUNDSTEDT - REPRODUCTION

Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt, Chef of the 18th Infantry Regiment, wore a big 18 on his shoulder boards, and for everyday wear favored the ornamented tunic of an infantry officer with white piping rather than a general's uniform.

This M1936 Tunic is cut from top quality grey gabardine and has 4 pleated patch pockets with scalloped flaps and gold buttons.

Bottle green collar.  Interior has quality silk rayon lining,  and a double neck closure. White piping down the front with 8 gold pebbled buttons

Chest size 44.

Also comes complete with:

  • KEY HOLE BUTTON HOLES
  • GERMAN GENERAL GOLD BULLION BREAST EAGLE
  • GERMAN HEER OFFICER INFANTRY COLLAR TABS
  • GENERALFELDMARSCAHLL SHOULDERRBOARDS -  in gold and silver bullion with crossed batons and number 18 metal cypher.
  • BUTTON HOLE IRON CROSS SECOND CLASS RIBBON
  • GOLD PEBBLED BUTTONS ( they look original)
  • FRENCH CUFFS

Field Marshal Gerd Von Rundstedt., Honorary Colonel-in-Chief of Infantry Regiment 18, and Commander-in-Chief of German forces on the western front and famously answering "Make peace, you fools!" when asked what to do about the Normandy landings.

Instead of wearing a regular German general's uniform (which he seems to have done on occasion) he wore infantry officer's collar tabs, and on some uniforms - white piped shoulder boards. White of course being the color for infantry. Adolf Hitler gave him the title of Honorary Colonel-in-Chief of the 18. Infantry Regiment as a retirement gift, even though he returned to active service the next year. He held this title for the rest of his career. Rundstedt oversaw many key battles on the western front during World War II, and was even placed as commander of German forces in France, but it was a more ceremonial role than an effective one. He also attended Rommel's funeral after he was forced to commit suicide for alleged involvement in the July 20 Plot as Hitler's representative, and spoke at the funeral for the nation's most famous field marshal

Superb reproduction of the WW2 German generals gabardine tunic.
