This is a high quality tan canvas web carry strap set, one long and one short, used to carry  the German ww2 gas mask can. 

These gas straps were used as slings so that the gas mask that was held inside the metal canister could be worn over the shoulder. The gas mask straps were used by all soldiers on all fronts with slight manufacturer variations.
