GERMAN WW2 WEHRMACHT GAITERS GREEN (GAMASHEN)
GERMAN WWII LEGGINGS GAMASHEN (GAITERS) - ORIGINAL
This pair of original German WWII green canvas gaiters looks to be unissued and in mint condition.
They are 15 inch in length.
The Gaiter (Gamaschen) was introduced in 1940 and became more and more common by 1943 due to diminishing supply's of leather for tall marching jack boots.
The German Gaiters were used by all branches of the German armed forces, most notably the Heer, Luftwaffe and Waffen SS and came in shades of green and blue with either brown leather or black leather straps.
The Gaiters were worn with the German low boots. M43 trousers were specially designed to be easily worn with the gaiters, tapering at the ankle and having a heel strap to keep them in place.
