This is a set of 2, front and back labels for a tin of Scho-ka-kola which is a German brand of chocolate consumed for its strong caffeine and kola nut mix. It became very popular during WW2 and was distributed to soldiers with the Wehrmacht packaging.
On the front label, just as the originals, it is dated 1939 in the centre and has the name: Scho-ka-kola brand on the top and the wording DIE STÄRKENDE SCHOKOLADE (The Strengthening chocolate) on the bottom. On the back label is the WEHRMACHT-PACKUNG, with ingredients and indicating military issue.
It is for a tin measuring 3 1/8" x 1 1/4”. Find a tin and make your own German chocolates.
Known as the "Aviator Chocolate" (German Fliegerschokolade), as it was commonly provided to Luftwaffe pilot and crew rations to induce or extend wakefulness and alertness, especially on night-bombing missions.
Scho-Ka-Kola is a German brand of chocolate consumed for its strong caffeine and kola nut mix. The chocolates have a caffeine content of about 0.2 percent, which is derived from the cocoa content of 58 percent and the addition of 2.6 percent roast coffee and 1.6 percent kola nut. The chocolate is divided into wedges held in a round metal canister. The red-and-white container design and recipe have changed very little since the original launch in 1936.
