GERMAN GSG9 BUNDESWEHR PARACHUTIST HELMET BGS FEDERAL BORDER GUARD SPECIAL BRANCH HELMET

This is an original German Special Branch Helmet Model GSG 9.  Hard to find.  This German GSG9 helmet was copied after the famous WW2 German M38 parachute helmet.

The BGS Helmet was designed for GSG 9 der Bundespolizei - colloquially GSG 9 (until 2005 Grenzschutzgruppe 9, Team No. 9 of the Federal Border Guard).  This group was a counter terrorism, hostage rescue and special operations police unit of the German Federal Police. .. There counterpart at the state level are the special deployment commandos and they were formed on April 17,1973.

The German anti-terrorist unit was considered one of the best in the world, a model for counterparts from other countries, formed after the tragic events at the 1972 Munich IO, with the approval of the then Federal Minister of the Interior of Germany Hans-Dietrich Genscher.
