This fine quality cap is constructed of high quality gabardine wool in the correct field-grey-green color and a green velvet cap band. 

The piping is heavy gold bullion. Featuring a gold bullion chin cord and silver colored metal party-style eagle and the silver metal cap wreath attached to the cap band.

Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt, Chef of the 18th Infantry Regiment, for everyday wear favored the ornamented tunic of an infantry officer with white piping and infantry officer's collar tabs, rather than a general's uniform. He did the same thing with his General Visor Cap he added the silver colored metal party-style eagle and the silver metal cap wreath attached to the cap band instead of what normally would be gold  colored metal party-style eagle and the gold cap wreath .

Field Marshal Gerd Von Rundstedt., Honorary Colonel-in-Chief of Infantry Regiment 18, and Commander-in-Chief of German forces on the western front and famously answering "Make peace, you fools!" when asked what to do about the Normandy landings.

Adolf Hitler gave him the title of Honorary Colonel-in-Chief of the 18. Infantry Regiment as a retirement gift, even though he returned to active service the next year. He held this title for the rest of his career. Rundstedt oversaw many key battles on the western front during World War II, and was even placed as commander of German forces in France, but it was a more ceremonial role than an effective one. He also attended Rommel's funeral after he was forced to commit suicide for alleged involvement in the July 20 Plot as Hitler's representative, and spoke at the funeral for the nation's most famous field marshal
