CANADIAN WW2 CIVILIAN GAS MASK ORGINAL

WW2 Canadian Civilian gas mask with instruction sheet and papers.  In original box.  Excellent condition.

As stated on included paperwork:  "This respirator is made available to you by the Dominion Government."   "Prepared and issued by the Office of the Director of Civil Raid Precautions, Daily Building, Ottawa, Canada, 1942."

Civilian gas masks were issued to all citizens during WW2, and many were distributed in Canada also.

The civilian masks consist of a rubberized fabric mask held by 4 straps, with a cellophane vision panel and an air filter containing (among other things) asbestos. This was quite effective, and safe as long as the filter is not damaged. They were designed to protect inactive people indoors.
