U.S. SILVER STAR SET WITH CASE - ORIGINAL
This American Silver Star from WW11 is a five pointed star with the central design of a smaller five point star surrounded by oak leaf branches. On the reverse are the raised words "For Gallantry in Action". Also included is the enamel lapel badge.
This also comes with it's original hinge case that has written on it in gold lettering "Silver Star". The case is lined in gold silk and velvet.
The Silver Medal is the successor to the Silver Star Citation that was established July 19, 1918. In 1932, the Secretary of War approved the change of the "Citation Star" to the medal.
The silver star is the third-highest American medal for valor or gallantry in combat. It is awarded primarily to members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
The Silver Star Medal is the successor to the Citation Star awarded during WW1.
