GERMAN IMPERIAL SPIKED HELMET PICKELHAUBEN GREY AND BLACK - ORIGINAL 

This is an original WW1 black leather German Pickelhaube. 

There is no spike on this helmet and the liner string is missing.  Size approximately 57 or 58.

This is the Grey painted version in accordance with the 1915 regulations, the Pickelhaube could no longer use brass, silver or tombak. All issued Pickelhaube would now use grey-painted steel fittings for all regiments.

Beautifully rendered in black leather with brass painted Prussian spread eagle and spike. Leather chinstrap with brass clutches, brass peak mount, and full leather inner liner make this spiked helmet a wonderful addition to your collection.

Pickelhaubes were used during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 until the close of WWI.

Received from the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Museum, Canada. The museum was selling off some of there museum’s items, to make room for more. The museum called it deaccessioning surplus museum artifacts.

The museum numbers their items for inventory purposes and you will see that there is a very small white number on this item put there by the museum. They can be remove with your fingernail.
