VICTORY SMITH & WESSON MODEL .38 cal HOLSTER R.I.A. ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL

This is a very rare highly desirable and seldom seen US military issued half-flap holster for the Smith & Wesson Victory model .38 caliber revolvers. It is stamped "US" in an oval and on the back "R.I.A." for Rock Island Arsenal; below that is stamped "MRT 1-54" . This holster has brass rivets and lift-the-dot snap still works. It has the universal wire hanger or loops for a belt .

Believe this is a late WW II production holster that wasn't issued and was subsequently stored until the Army started treating their leather goods with mildew resistant chemicals at which time it was stamped "MRT I-54".

Note: . It will fit Smith & Wesson Victory Models. Model 10, and similar size revolvers with a 4 inch barrel, but also the open bottom makes it suitable for a 5" barrel too.
