U.S. WW1 WINTER ARMY CAP DATED 1917 - ORIGINAL

This original American WW1 winter cap with buckle is dated 1917.  Unfortunately the stamp with date and maker is too light to see in the photo's.  

The official US designation is Cap, Winter and has a cotton outer shell with a  fine wool interior. It was worn folded up, like a baseball cap, during warmer weather or flaps down and secured by a steel buckle round the chin to fend off winter conditions.
