GERMAN WWII M31 ALUMINUM CANTEEN AND CUP WITH FELT COVER FELDFLASSCHE 31

This is an original German WW2 standard issue aluminum M31 canteen with felt cover, steel cup, and leather straps with green, grey snap hook.

The throat of the canteen is marked CFL 42 manufactured by Peter Heuel,Sagewerk Ople (NW)

Referred to in German as the Feldflasche Modell 1931 (Field bottle model 1931)

Introduced in March 1931 the standard issue M31 canteen was based on the WWI M1893 and M1907 canteens with some small changes. Originally the M31 canteens were manufactured in aluminum but later were manufactured in steel when aluminum became scarce.
