GERMAN WW2 LUFTWAFFE WINTER CAP MAKER MARKED AND DATED 1942

Luftwaffe winter fur cap (Pelzmütze). Blue /grey wool exterior with side flaps and grey/blue rayon lining.

The cap features fold down side and back panels with the panels held in position at the top of the cap by a thread loop. When the side and back panels are in the upright position the wool is visible to the exterior. The back and side panels were designed to be folded down to protect the wearer’s ears and neck and the panels could be secured with the fabric loop under the wearer’s chin as required.

The fur cap never had insignia attached.

These winter caps were a standard issue item and were distributed to all EM/NCO’s.  

The cap is dated, marked with size and maker marked:

MAKER: R.Z.f.H. -  R.T.8 - Reichs Zentrale für Handwerkslieferungen.
