GERMAN WEHRMACHT HEER UNTEROFFIZIER SHOULDER BOARDS FOR GRENADIERS

WW2 German shoulder boards for Unteroffizier rank.  Made of field grey wool and aluminum-silver tresse.  Has meadow green piping for Grenadiers.

“Grenadier” is the German term for the military doctrine of mechanized infantry units in armoured forces.  Providing support for troops in armoured vehicles and carriers with squads of 6 to 8 soldiers. 

This term was started in Nazi Germany in WW2.   Also called Panzergrenadier (PzG).
