GERMAN WWI BAR WITH IRON CROSS 2ND CLASS & WAR VETERANS MEDAL & BAVARIAN SERVICE MEDAL

This an original German WW1 ribon bar with 3 original medals and ribbons.  Comes with the following:

WAR VETERANS MEDAL 1914-1918 OF THE KYFFHAUSER UNION (WITH SWORDS)

Obverse : The oval medal is in gilt bronze. Within a border of leaves stands a torn flag under the text, in Gothic script, "BLANK / DIE WEHR / REIN DIE EHR" (not literally translatable but meaning something like 'fighing with open visor, with honour intact"). To the left of the flag are the dates "1914 / 1918) and across the lower part of the medal are four lightning bolts.

Reverse : to the inner side of the border of leaves one reads, on the upper half : "Für Treue im Weltkriege" (For loyalty during the World War) and on the lower half : "Der Kyffhäuserbund". Centrally is the text "Aufrecht / u. Stolz gehen / wir aus dem / kampfe den wir / über vier Jahre / gegen eine Welt / von feinden / bestanden / hindenburg" (Standing proudly we leave the battle which we fought, more than four years long and against the world, Hindenburg).  

1914 IRON CROSS 2ND CLASS

The basic design of the WW1 IRON CROSS 2nd CLASS has the front of the cross bearing the date 1914 under a crowned 'W' monogram. The back of the cross bears an oak leaf cluster with the date of the decoration’s institution, 1813 underneath and FW the crowned initials of Frederick William are in the top arm above the oak leaf cluster. 

BAVARIAN MILITARY SERVICE MEDAL 3RD CLASS FOR 9 YEARS SERVICE

The silver medal has on the front the inscription:  Treue Dienste bei der Fahne and the image of a shield in the centre.   The reverse has the inscription:  Fahne Dienstauszeichnung 3. Klasse and the shield in the centre has the roman numeral IX inside.

Issued between 1913 – 1921. 

The “Treue Dienst bei der Fahne” medal, which translates to “Loyal Service to the Flag,” was awarded during World War I to recognize long and faithful military service.
