WW1 BRITISH CANADIAN OFFICERS SAM BROWNE WAIST BELT & CROSS STRAP BROWN
WW2 CANADIAN / BRITISH SAM BROWNE BELT BROWN-REPRODUCTION
Sam Browne belts are a combination of a pistol belt or garrison belt and a shoulder strap (and D-rings). The Sam Browne belt was named after General Sir Samuel J. Browne, 1824-1901, of the British Army in India. The strap was intended to help carry the weight of a heavy pistol.
Sam Browne belts were first used in the Second Boer War, and remained Army issue until late into the Second World War. They are still used today on some dress uniforms.
The Sam Browne belts include the belt and cross strap, both made from a quality brown leather with brass fixings. They also have a ring of brass loops around the belt, as well as the customary sword hook on the left hand side.
