BRITISH WWI P1903 BAYONET SWORD PATTERN 1903 MARK 1 - ORIGINAL

This British Pattern 1903 bayonet, officially called the Mark I .

The entire bayonet is 1634" long and the blade is 12" long .

The blade is marked on one side with: the Kings Crown, the date 1903 and 35 E along with EFD which is the British maker mark of Royal Arms Factory.

On the other side of the of ricasso is big X.  Additional stamping is on both sides of the X. (Crown, 35, E) The  'X' is a bend-test mark and the other marks are the Royal Arms Factory appointed inspectors marks.

Comes with original scabbard and brown leather frog.  The frog also has a maker mark on it but it is too faint to read.

Received from the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Museum, Canada. The museum was selling off some of there museum’s items, to make room for more. The museum called it deaccessioning surplus museum artifacts.

The museum numbers their items for inventory purposes and you will see that there is a very small white number on this item put there by the museum. They are very easy to remove with your fingernail.
