The National D-Day Museum complex consists of a renovated, four-story, 19th century warehouse and the adjoining four-story glass fronted Louisiana Memorial Pavilion.

Located in the growing arts and warehouse district in Downtown New Orleans, the site itself measures more than 70,500 square feet. The National D-Day Museum's primary exhibit space, constructed in 1856, is the former home of the Louisiana Brewery.

The 16,000-square-foot gallery of The National D-Day Museum is divided into four, state-of-the-art, interactive exhibits that intermix oral histories from veterans worldwide, artifacts, documents and photographs with hands-on activities and never before seen film footage.

These series of exhibits take Museum visitors through the weeks and days leading up to the D-Days of World War II to the foggy morning of June 6 when the Allies landed on the beaches of Normandy to the other decisive air and sea assaults that led to victory in Europe and the Pacific.

HOURS OF OPERATION:

9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
7 Days a week (Monday - Sunday) except Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Mardi Gras.

ACCESSIBILITY

The National D-Day Museum is fully accessible to all visitors. Wheelchairs are provided for use in the Museum. We offer short introductory Museum guides in braille, French, Spanish and German.

EXHIBITS

The National D-Day Museum's exhibits encompass the June 6, 1944 invasion of Normandy, the Home Front during WWII, and the D-Day Invasions in the Pacific. Exhibit galleries incorporate text panels, artifacts, and Personal Account stations in which visitors may listen to the stories of WWII veterans and others who supported the war effort.
We recommend allowing at least 2-3 hours to view the Museum.

FILM SHOWINGS

The Malcolm Forbes Theater shows two exclusive WWII films: D-Day Remembered (Normandy) and Price for Peace (the Pacific). These films, each about 45 minutes long, show daily on an alternating basis beginning with D-Day Remembered at 9:30 AM, Price for Peace at 10:30 AM and so on. A film is shown every hour on the half hour. Both films are also available for purchase in our Museum Store.
