The Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor was established in 1949 to preserve historical materials relating to Mechanized Cavalry and Armor and to make these properties available to Armor soldiers and for public exhibit and research. The Museum is administered by the U.S. Army Armor Center, Fort Knox, Kentucky, and is one of the largest in the U.S. Army Museum System.

The Museum has exhibits in these themes:

• The Tank Corps - World War I
• The Lean Years - Mechanized Cavalry
• The Armored Force - World War II
• The Cold War - Korea
• The Cold War - Vietnam
• Desert Shield & Desert Storm
• General George S. Patton, Jr.

The Emert L. "Red" Davis Memorial Library contains reference materials relating to mechanized cavalry and armored vehicles and equipment, General George S. Patton, Jr., and Fort Knox. Information on unit histories is available. For information on individuals who served in units see National Personnel Records Center. Some references are available through Interlibrary Loan. It is for Armor School soldiers, but is available to all researchers; appointments recommended. The Library holds special collections as well.

 The Armor Memorial Park is adjacent to the Museum. It commemorates organizations from the U.S. Army that are recognized and served in a combat theater. Organizations may be of any branch of service, since Armor is the combined arms team.

In Keyes Park near the main entrance to Fort Knox. From US 31W take Chaffee Avenue exit toward main post and turn left into Keyes Park.

9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Holidays and Weekends:

1 May to 30 September    10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

1 October to 30 April    10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Closed 24-25 December and 31 December-1 January.

The Museum is open to the general public and admission is free. Group visits are welcomed and ample parking space is available. Touring is on a self-guided basis. Most visitors average 2 hours to tour the museum.
